In a town as big as Great Falls, we know you have options when it comes to getting things like prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, sports supplements, gifts, and home decor, so we pride ourselves on carrying things that the “big guys” don’t – including handmade malts and milkshakes at our historic soda fountain!
When you come in, we work hard to get your prescriptions filled quickly and give you the best service around. We want our time and needs valued when we’re on the other side of the counter as customers, so we are committed to doing the same for you!
We’ve been serving the greater Great Falls area for over 100 years, originally opening in Stockett in 1895, eventually opening Great Falls in the mid-1900s! Our family took over the store in 2006. Like so many of you, we grew up in Montana and are proud to raise our children here and be an active part of the community.
Not to mention, we have awesome pharmacists, techs, retail, and soda fountain employees who help support us and serve you!
If you have a question about a product we carry or the prescriptions and pharmacy services we offer, or are looking to transfer your prescriptions to us, give us a call at (406) 452-6461. For general inquiries, fill out our contact form, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
Thank you so much for your support and patronage – it means a lot to our family and our staff!

As mentioned above, Snyder Drug originated in Stockett in 1895 and has been a fixture of Great Falls for nearly 100 years. Grounded in a long-standing family tradition of pharmaceuticals and a high standard of customer service, we're a delightful alternative to the status quo. Our history began when Carl B. Snyder, who was raised in Madison, Wisconsin found himself in Great Falls working alongside Murphy McClay until 1895 when he opened his own store, Snyder Drug.
The shelves looked much different from those we see today, as they were stocked with powders, ointments and liquids used for medical purposes. Along with the common cures of the time, locals depended on the neighborhood store for eyeglasses, stationery, books – and it the only phone in town. Carl B.’s sons, Stanley O. and Carl J., kept busy running from house to house relaying to the townspeople that a call for them was waiting at the store. After 30 years in Stockett and a successful career as Justice of the Peace for the Sand Coulee Township, Carl B. felt it was time to move Snyder Drug to Great Falls.
In 1933, Carl J. returned to Great Falls from Missoula a newly graduated pharmacist with his lovely wife, Lucile, on his arm. Carl J. ran the store and Lucile worked as a dietitian for the Deaconess Hospital. After the loss of her husband in 1957, Lucile began managing Snyder Drug full time. It wasn’t long before her son Neil Snyder received his degree and took the reins alongside his wife Sharon. Sharon and Neil ran the store from 1962 until they retired in 2006. To this day, Snyder Drug is a staple in our community and continues to be a full service family owned pharmacy built on a history of dedication, experience and hometown values.
